Watermelon: A Child's Memories
I was looking, touching, tapping and smelling the watermelons at the local market, this Summer has been particularly HOT I love to see how myself and my family enjoy a watermelon slice or in chuncks it does not matter how, I have to mention that our watermelons this years have been tremendously sweet and delicious and believe me had nothing to do with my pre-testing selection because, thru the years I have seen other people doing that so, I just do it as if that actitud would magically point me to the right watermelon and make me look very savvy. So, in any case, I was so busy in my "expert" mechanics that I did not notice the guy, an older gentleman employee that, just was watching me with delight and wondering himself if I secretaly had the knowledge to choose the right watermelon. Well, he offered his kind help and he felt compelled to tell me his anecdote about watermelon and his childhood. And he said, "I love watermelons, I can wait for the harvest of them and eat them every day, reminds me of when I was a child and my Mom had a watermelon for me every year on my Birthday which is in March so, at least where I was living back then March was so far to be watermelon's harvest time so, I don't know how but, my Mom had this arrangement with the owner of the General Store Mr. Jenkins to get her every year in March (he didn't mentioned the date)a Watermelon from Mexico on his Birthday" And, you all know being a Mom's child you do almost anything to make them happy very specially on their Birthday and so, George (the man's name) had enjoyed for the longest time his beloved watermelon and as he told me he still enjoy his watermelon only now, if different. I couldn't help to noticed that his child tale was full of emotion, joy and nostalgy for his Mom her love and care for him was so present every year to provide his delicious watermelon on his Birthday. I hope my children someday remember with the same love that, when they were youngters we all enjoyed our watermelon among laughs unexpectedly building memories. George made my day I was so happy to hear his tale and so happy that I was there for hom when he felt the need to refer to someone his cherished memories. He just made my day! Now what are your memories do you care to share with all of us?

Water Divine Gift - I Miss you so much!
Our Water, Our Resources ... reality check ...
After my rampage of family and friends over the weekend you all know what a mess can be when everyone is gone and try to get back to your routine takes time and elbow greese well, all fine and small price to pay when you get to see all those beautiful faces, eat, drink, laught together and enjoy a healthy dose of jokes and good memories. Already looking forward our next reunion. Hello! Whose home is next? What should I bring? Or perhaps, all of you are OK if I only bring my radiant, bubbling and friendly personality? OK! OK! Chicken Winds and Napolitano Ice Crean are on me, its OK I insist!
I got to the zink last night to wash off some dishes and OMG! My level of surprise and dissapoitment when thru the roof I could not believe what I was looking at and the lack of ANY noise comming out of the faucet, are you kidding me? This a bad, bad joke, OK guys who is there? Someone is still in the joking mood! ... this is NOT FUNNY! Get serious, and let me have some water! I'm tired and I want to go Twitt my friends about the success of our reunion.
OK, no luck, au contraire mon frere! I found myself alone in the room, my husband left Monday AM on a biz trip although, this time its a short trip the fact is that I have no water in the whole house its almost dark, my male neighbors are already gone to work since they work graveyard shifts, and me alone with the rest of the family that have to care for and cater to their needs instead getting ANY useful help from them. What to do? Please, God help me to think! When reality sank, I also started to panic, we all have to take our showers, laundry to do and other chores where water is essential, brush our teeth, at least wash our faces, water for may beloved Coffee the next morning (today) etc. etc. Just mentally making a list of things yet to do and need WATER to do so, I was tired, a bit upset, lot frustrated and I guess my resilience started to show some weakness and desperation, trying to blame someone, OK my husband! Eureka! Its his fault! OK, I called him, I told him all the events and my fears and he very calmy and collected gave me the guidance of things to review and fix if they were fixible if not call the Technitian today as they open the business, and so I did. I brough everyone to the store, I bought some gallons of water for essentials and called the Tech this morning. But, of course, you are saying "why you didn't pay the water bill ontime"? Well, I would only, we do not have City Water we get out water from a Well so, Mr. G found out this morning that the starter componnents were RUST, BAD, BAD BEYOND rescued efforts. Luckily for me he had every spare part in his truck & few hundred bills and 30 minutes later we had the marvelous GIFT of Water again and couldn't be HAPPIER to see it again running thru my hands. That was a Thank You God! moment.
My friends i wanted to share this small episode of my life because, I pride myself in being "enviromentalist at heart" I recycle alluminum, paper, batteries, metal scraps, water bottles, plastic, glass, cardboard, I do have my own compost, my Summers are taken by planting, reforesting, I plant as many flowers as I can, my small contribution to create proper enviroment for Bees since they polinate our crops and everything in between.
As I was going thru my panic moment I was thinking in no way shape or form "entitled" to but, just frustrated, why this happen to me, if it was going to happen why did not happen when my husband was at home? Why me? Why now? As I was laying in our bed trying to make sense of the events I came to the sad conclusion, this was ONLY A TINY test to my survinving reaction skills, and it was only for a few hours and the majority of those we will be sleeping anyway, I could not help to compare our situation to people in other countries that do not have water in regular basis, they have to walk long distances in very painful conditions to get the precious liquid, how horrible must be living without water (can you call that "living"?)for several days. I decided that, I wll do a proper research of Charities that help communities to have water close by. Us the priviledge ones, how can we denied anyone such precious gift? The other Gift of Life. Me, for one I want to do something about it!
My perspective about Water and People changed after my uninvited experience and, I'm very happy about it. :)
Please, my friends be careful with our resources and share them if all possible :)
Thank you, I love you all :)
